Beastie Boys

About Beastie Boys

The Beastie Boys were formed in New York City in 1981, being a four-piece hardcore punk band. In 1983 they had local success with the experimental hip hop single “Cooky Puss”. After this the band switched completely to Hip Hop which made  Kate Schellenbach (drums)  leaving the band.

Success came due to touring with Madonna in 1985 followed by their debut album “licensed to ///”

Following up with “Paul’s Boutique” , “Check Your Head” ,”/// Communication” , “Hello Nasty”, “To the 5 Boroughs”, ”The Mix-Up” and “Hot Sauce Committee Part Two”. They have sold a little more than 26 million albums in the USA and 50 million worldwide what makes them the biggest-selling Rap band since Billboard began recording  sales in 1991. From 1986 to 2004 they had seven platinum  selling albums and as result they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Sadly to say in that same year Adam Yauch died of cancer making Mike D confirming that the Beastie Boys had disbanded.
